How narrative therapy comes alive in the worlds we play.
Every one of us lives inside a story. Sometimes, those stories are empowering: 'I can change,' 'I’m capable,' 'I’m enough.' Other times, they trap us: 'I always fail,' 'I’m not good enough.' Narrative Therapy helps people notice and reshape these stories.
In Narrative & Gaming Therapy, clients don’t just tell new stories—they live them. Creating an avatar or in-game persona allows people to externalise emotions, test courage, and explore identity safely. A young person who feels powerless might play a hero who protects others. Someone coping with anxiety might guide a character through uncertainty and see that fear can be faced—and overcome.
After gameplay, guided reflection connects the virtual journey with real-life experiences. 'How did it feel to take that risk?' or 'What does your character’s strength say about your own?' These conversations turn play into personal insight—and insight into change.
